Chris Jericho currently serves as the face of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), holding the promotion’s World Championship.
“Y2J” is preparing to defend his title against Jon Moxley in the main event of the upcoming AEW Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) on Saturday, February 29, 2020, in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center. Recently, Jericho took to his podcast, “Talk Is Jericho,” to talk about several professional wrestling topics. During the show, Jericho reflected on Vince McMahon’s reaction to “Y2J” signing with AEW.
Jericho noted McMahon asked him if he could get out of it. (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
“I’m not in AEW because I was a rebel,” Jericho admitted. “I’m with AEW because Vince went, ‘go.’ And then, when I went, he went, ‘did you sign the contract?’ I said, ‘well, yeah.’ He said, ‘can you get out of it?’ ‘No! You told me to sign it!'”
Jericho then compared his signing with AEW to when Scott Hall inked a deal with WCW back in 1996. McMahon could’ve prevented the move, but didn’t.
“But [McMahon] had the opportunity to stop it like he did with [Hall], which is very interesting to me because 23 years later, he made the same [mistake].” Jericho added, “I love Vince.”
