Chris Jericho reveals what Vince McMahon told him after signing with AEW

Chris Jericho currently serves as the face of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), holding the promotionโ€™s World Championship.

โ€œY2Jโ€ is preparing to defend his title against Jon Moxley in the main event of the upcoming AEW Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) on Saturday, February 29, 2020, in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center. Recently, Jericho took to his podcast, โ€œTalk Is Jericho,โ€ to talk about several professional wrestling topics. During the show, Jericho reflected on Vince McMahonโ€™s reaction to โ€œY2Jโ€ signing with AEW.

Jericho noted McMahon asked him if he could get out of it. (H/T Wrestling Inc.)

โ€œIโ€™m not in AEW because I was a rebel,โ€ Jericho admitted. โ€œIโ€™m with AEW because Vince went, โ€˜go.โ€™ And then, when I went, he went, โ€˜did you sign the contract?โ€™ I said, โ€˜well, yeah.โ€™ He said, โ€˜can you get out of it?โ€™ โ€˜No! You told me to sign it!'โ€

Jericho then compared his signing with AEW to when Scott Hall inked a deal with WCW back in 1996. McMahon couldโ€™ve prevented the move, but didnโ€™t.

โ€œBut [McMahon] had the opportunity to stop it like he did with [Hall], which is very interesting to me because 23 years later, he made the same [mistake].โ€ Jericho added, โ€œI love Vince.โ€
