Chris Jericho currently serves as the face of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), holding the promotionโs World Championship.
โY2Jโ is preparing to defend his title against Jon Moxley in the main event of the upcoming AEW Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) on Saturday, February 29, 2020, in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center. Recently, Jericho took to his podcast, โTalk Is Jericho,โ to talk about several professional wrestling topics. During the show, Jericho reflected on Vince McMahonโs reaction to โY2Jโ signing with AEW.
Jericho noted McMahon asked him if he could get out of it. (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
โIโm not in AEW because I was a rebel,โ Jericho admitted. โIโm with AEW because Vince went, โgo.โ And then, when I went, he went, โdid you sign the contract?โ I said, โwell, yeah.โ He said, โcan you get out of it?โ โNo! You told me to sign it!'โ
Jericho then compared his signing with AEW to when Scott Hall inked a deal with WCW back in 1996. McMahon couldโve prevented the move, but didnโt.
โBut [McMahon] had the opportunity to stop it like he did with [Hall], which is very interesting to me because 23 years later, he made the same [mistake].โ Jericho added, โI love Vince.โ
