As the Warner Brothers Discovery Upfronts were taking place this morning at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, AEW confirmed via a press release the launch of AEW Collision.
The new Saturday night show will air on TNT starting June 17th, 2023. The show will be built around the returning CM Punk. The idea is to separate him from those who he has issues with. As previously reported, talent expected there to be a hard roster split.
The premiere episode of AEW Collision, rumored to take place in Chicago, is expected to feature another ‘major talent debut or return.’ It’s believed that CM Punk will make his return to the promotion on this premiere episode.
Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated pointed out that the initial AEW press release regarding the show’s premiere included CM Punk among the advertised talent for the new series before he was removed.
Thunder Rosa, Miro, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Andrade El Idolo were the names mentioned.
With AEW President Tony Khan making an important announcement on tonight’s Dynamite, the promotion could be saving the announcement of Punk’s return for that.
WBD's press release headline for the AEW Collision announcement originally mentioned CM Punk and other wrestlers, which you can see in the cached listing (left) before it was edited (right).

Here's an interesting one for the wrestling fans: AEW's press release on their new show says, "will feature headliners including Thunder Rosa, Miro, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Andrade El Idolo." Their email, though, and link to the release, mentioned CM Punk. Hmmm…. pic.twitter.com/gBxbHisvOY
