A former WWE NXT star debut at today’s AEW Dark tapings in Orlando, FL.
The woman formerly known as Vanessa Bourne wrestled and lost to Marina Shafir. Bourne wrestled under her real name, Danielle Kamela.
Kamela signed with WWE in 2016 and debuted later that year on an episode of NXT on the WWE Network. She worked on a lot of the house shows when NXT would tour around the state of Florida and she wrestled on some NXT TV shows but she never got a focused push.
In 2019, Kamela wrestled in a dark match at the Axxess event held during Royal Rumble weekend and again during WrestleMania 35 weekend.
The company apparently had plans for her at one point because she signed a new contract in early 2020 and she was about to be called to the main roster but creative had nothing for her and she was ultimately released in May of 2021.
At this point, it does not look like she has signed an AEW deal.
