Tony Khan has confirmed that Persephone is on track to be cleared for in-ring competition in June, in time to participate in the women’s bracket of the 2026 Owen Hart Cup tournament.
The update came at the ROH Supercard of Honor post-show media scrum Friday night in Salisbury, Maryland.
“It was really unfortunate when Persephone got hurt. Really unfortunate. I am such a huge fan of Persephone. I’m very excited that right now, the doctors have said she’ll be back in June and she’ll be able to compete in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. That is great for us.”
Persephone was ruled out of the Women’s World Title Survival of the Fittest match at ROH Supercard of Honor due to an injury suffered in the lead-up to the show. Sareee separately announced she is taking a month off to nurse a neck injury. Khan had said earlier in the week that both wrestlers were expected to be cleared in time for their first-round Owen Hart Cup matches in June, and Friday night confirmed Persephone specifically.
Persephone has been one of AEW’s breakout women’s signings in 2026 after debuting as part of the Triangle of Madness alliance with the company earlier in the year. The advertised first-round matches for the 2026 women’s Owen Hart Cup bracket are:
- Persephone vs. Hazuki
- Willow Nightingale vs. Alex Windsor
- Mina Shirakawa vs. Athena
- Skye Blue vs. Sareee
