Jade Cargill appeared on “Talk Is Jericho” this week to discuss the affect social media has on her, why she isn’t wrestling for the money, and her home life.
Jade Cargill said she does not let what she hears or sees on social media affect her:
“I made a Twitter account for wrestling. That’s it,” Jade said.
“I made a Twitter in college, I didn’t like it, and I got rid of it. Then when I became a part of AEW, it was like, ‘You need a Twitter. You need to engage with your fans more.’ Like, alright, I’ll make a Twitter account.”
“To me, just because I know and being that I was an athlete previously from being here, you know, the man that pays me, the booker, that’s who matters. My coaches, they matter. The veterans here who’ve done this and are doing it, they matter. I am thankful for my fans, I’m thankful for the outside opinions, but the people here at AEW, to me, that’s all that matters. Their critiques matter to me. TK (Tony Khan), his critiques and what he wants, that’s what matters to me.”
Jade said she is not wrestling because she loves it more than for the money:
“The difference for me that people don’t understand is that in real life, I’m rich, like I am,” Jade revealed.
“I don’t want to say it like that, but I mean, in plain terms, I’m rich. I don’t need to do this. I do this because I enjoy it. I love coming to work. I love pushing the limit and I love seeing what I can do.”
“Now, can I say I have the love that you have, because you’ve been doing this for so long, or anybody else in the locker room has been doing this for 10 or 20 years? No, but right now I’m enjoying it. I see myself in the future of wrestling. I would never ever have stepped foot into this business if I wasn’t passionate about it.”
Jade was asked where her money came from:
“It comes from modeling and my spouse also is an ex-MLB player, Brandon Phillips. He’s three or four times, and he’ll kill me that I don’t know this, but three or four times Golden Glove, two time Silver Slugger, All Stars several times. So he’s been killing it. He’s going to be in the Hall of Fame, and I’m a child psychologist, and I’m a trainer.”
Jade additionally discusses her tryout with the WWE, as well as what the WWE would have expected from her on this week’s episode of “Talk Is Jericho”
