JBL: Jeff Jarrett ‘May Be As Hot Now As He’s Ever Been’

With Jeff Jarrett being honored at the Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame and serving as the subject of a new Dark Side of the Ring documentary, John Layfield says the veteran’s legacy is still being written.

Speaking on Something to Wrestle, JBL argued that Jarrett, who is celebrating his 40th year in wrestling, is enjoying a remarkable late-career resurgence.

“I think he may be as hot now as he’s ever been, and I think that’s amazing,” JBL said. “After all these years of wrestling and through TNA, through India, through all the things that he’s done, he may be hotter now than he’s ever been.”

JBL praised Jarrett as a rare talent who was never content to simply be a performer, crediting his family background for his business acumen.

“Jeff’s a really smart guy, and he has a mind that just, he doesn’t just want to be talent. I think he probably got that from his dad and his grandmother,” JBL said. “He’s been office, he’s been owner, he’s been so many different things.”

JBL also recalled Jarrett’s notable place in history as one of the few people to ever get the better of Vince McMahon in a business dealing.

“He’s one of two that held up Mr. McMahon,” JBL said, referencing Jarrett’s departure over his contract and title. “He doesn’t just leverage the fact that he held up Vince McMahon. He creates something new with TNA.”

JBL believes Jarrett still has plenty left to accomplish.

“It’s not done yet. He’s still a pretty young guy, and he’s still very ambitious,” JBL said. “He’s mentioned to me, not in full detail, but enough detail to know that he has some big things planned.”
