Jim Ross: “The Death Riders Is A Good Gimmick. It’s A Good Idea”

Wrestling commentary legend Jim Ross shared his positive assessment of the “Death Riders” faction during a recent episode of his “Grilling JR” podcast, highlighting Jon Moxley’s leadership role within the group.

“It seems like Moxley is the maestro of this orchestra, and if that’s the case, then so be it. It’s going to work out pretty well,” Ross opined, endorsing Moxley’s position at the helm of the prominent AEW stable which also includes Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta.

Ross expressed his approval of the group’s concept and presentation. “The Death Riders is a good gimmick. It’s a good idea,” he stated. “I like the Death Riders scenario. I like it a lot, so we’ll see how it pans out at the end of the day.”

The conversation also touched upon recent championship outcomes. Ross admitted he had anticipated a different result at AEW Dynasty. “I just thought that Moxley might lose the title and it didn’t happen,” Ross said. “I’m not complaining about that, but it seemed like it was a false narrative [in my mind].”

He contrasted this with his thoughts on Swerve Strickland’s position in the AEW World Title picture, stating, “I thought Swerve would get the title…” Ross added, “…and he’s been a good champion.”

Ultimately, Ross maintained a “wait-and-see” attitude regarding the direction of Moxley and the Death Riders faction, concluding, “So we’ll see how it works out.”
