AEW World Champion was on the PWI podcast this week to promote his match with MJF at the All Out pay-per-view. AEW All Out airs this Saturday night.
Here are some highlights from the interview:
Jon Moxley talked about his 2020 plans if the pandemic did not happen: “At the beginning of 2020, I thought it was going to be the best year of my career. It was one thing after the other. I got to wrestle Minoru Suzuki who I thought I wouldn’t have a chance to wrestle. Then it was the Texas Death Match with Lance Archer at Wrestle Kingdom. Then we did the whole storyline with Jericho and I won the title. 2020 was one good thing after another and it was going to be more and more. I was going to be the busiest wrestler in the world. I was going to go back and forth to Japan and do Dynamite every week. I was going to be doing a lot of different cool shows. I was going to go to Ireland and England. We were going to have an AEW U.K. tour. I was going to be doing cool, bigger indie shows. I was going to be busy as hell. I was going to be doing everything on the menu. You only live once and I was going to strike while the iron was hot. I was going to be all over the place all year long and then it was shut down.”
Moxley was asked if it was his idea to have the violent match with Kenny Omega: “I knew the night before that a lot of people were going to hate this. You’re either all in or all out. I saw the drive of Kenny Omega. None of that was my idea. I was like, the first time we ever wrestle we are doing this. Basically, I was like, if we are going to do it, and he wanted to go b*lls out, then I’m like, yea, cool. Not everybody is going to like everything you are going to do. Everybody thinks that was my brainchild. I was like, we can do that, cool. I’m in. But, I wouldn’t assume AEW would want that on their show. I would never come up to Tony and say, dude, I’m going to stab a guy in the face with barb wire because I would assume he wouldn’t be into that.”
