Chris Jericho dropped the AEW World Heavyweight Title to Jon Moxley in the headliner of the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center.
Some fans picked up on the fact that Jericho is set to do a brief tour with Fozzy from April 16th to May 9th, which resulted in speculation about Jericho taking some time off.
In fact, AEW played up this speculation in an angle on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Broomfield, CO at the 1stBank Center on TNT.
Jericho did so when he stated that if Moxley wasn’t left laying by the end of the show that he would leave AEW for 60 days. The belief among fans was that if the angle didn’t go Jericho’s way then it would explain his absence.
Clearly, that didn’t happen as The Inner Circle power bombed Moxley through a table off the stage to close the show.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the schedule with Fozzy won’t impact his dates with AEW as the band isn’t doing any shows on Tuesdays or Wednesdays so he can fly into the city where Dynamite is being held. Jericho used this to his advantage with the angle on Dynamite.
It was noted that Jericho actually arranged the tour to where there are no conflicts.
