Planned Title Match For AEW All In: Texas

A major championship match is reportedly planned for AEW’s upcoming All In: Texas event. According to a report, the company is planning for ROH Women’s World Champion Athena to defend her title against former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa at the stadium show.

The two have been on a collision course in recent weeks on AEW programming. The storyline escalated on this past week’s episode of AEW Collision, which featured an eight-woman tag team match where Athena’s team got the victory over Rosa’s team.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that a singles match between the two for the championship is the direction for All In. While the match has not been officially announced by AEW, the on-screen interactions have been building towards the encounter.

“That is the plan. Yeah,” Meltzer said. “I don’t know that it’s been announced…it’s been that one’s been pretty clear for a couple of weeks.”

Athena has held the ROH Women’s World Championship for over 560 days, establishing one of the most dominant title reigns in modern wrestling. A match against a decorated former champion like Thunder Rosa at AEW’s biggest show of the year would be one of the highest-profile defenses of her reign.
