Positive News On Kenny Omega’s Recovery

Kenny Omega has spent months on the sidelines before he underwent the knife.

This was after he announced in December 2023 that he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. The top star could’ve got a blood infection if he wasn’t diagnosed at the time he was, which would have something like a 50 percent chance of death.

At the time of the diagnosis, Omega had been paired with Chris Jericho on AEW television. AEW was building to a match against Ricky Starks and Big Bill at the Worlds End pay-per-view event in late December.

Months after disappearing from TV, Omega made a few appearances on television to further The Elite’s storyline before getting the surgery. It was previously noted that Kota Ibushi will be returning with Omega when the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion is ready to return.  In Ibushi’s case, Ibushi had been sidelined with his own injury. He has worked some matches in Japan, but his AEW status is pending on Omega’s.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that  Omega is ‘training with moderate intensity.’ However, he still has weakness in the abdominal area and hasn’t taken any bumps. There is still no timeline for his in-ring return.
