This past February, Sting’s career ended as he and Darby Allin successfully defended the AEW Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Team Match at the AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view event from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC.
This was Sting’s retirement match, as Sting went over with the scorpion death lock on Matt Jackson. Following the show at the media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan called Sting’s retirement match being held in AEW the greatest moment of his life, and the door in AEW for Sting was still open. Sting said he’s willing to have a talk about his future.
While speaking to WFAA, Allin noted Sting had been backstage at some of the recent Collision events in Arlington, Texas, to visit since he lives nearby.
Allin said, “Yeah. He’s been backstage at some of the Collisions. I keep telling him, you’ve got to come out, and we’ve got to go mini-golf battle. You know, like his son, I’m helping train his son right now in wrestling, and I took the son mini-golfing, and I whooped his butt, and then I just asked Sting, does it run in the family to lose to Darby Allin in mini-golf? We’ll find out. He claims that he’s a mini-golf master, but he hasn’t pulled up to the course yet.”
AEW will run All In: Texas from Globe Life Field next July. Sting teased a potential appearance at the event with this tweet:
