Swerve Strickland has offered his take on the ongoing debate around celebrity involvement in professional wrestling, arguing that fan connection is the only real measuring stick for whether a celebrity has earned their place in the ring.
Speaking with The Cruz Show, Strickland was asked about celebrities and influencers pursuing wrestling opportunities in the wake of the Jelly Roll and Pat McAfee involvement in the Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes WrestleMania 42 feud.
“There’s a time and a place for it for sure. There’s a time and a place for it. Once again, it always comes back to the connection to the fan base. How much have you connected with the fan base to warrant your level of involvement in said space in the wrestling. That’s all I was going to tell you. You always got to listen to the fan base. They’re going to tell you what they’re receiving. They’re like children. They cry when they don’t like something or they’re going to cry when they want something, and then you feed it to them and they’re going to be like, ‘Oh, that satisfied me.’ They’re going to tell you when something’s not digesting it well,” Strickland said.
