Tommy Dreamer believes Christian Cage’s performance on AEW Dynamite was another reminder that the veteran belongs in a Hall of Fame.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dreamer heaped praise on Cage and Adam Copeland’s tag team match against RPG Vice’s Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta on the April 29 episode of Dynamite, pointing to the finer details of Christian’s work as the defining reason for his endorsement.
“God, they’re still so great. And that tag match they had with RPG Vice, man, watch this match. Watch how these guys work. Watch how they’re there for everything. Watch Christian, who’s got a broken arm, does something with his arm, and then he grabs it. Watch the innovativeness of the two older wrestlers that are still popping the houses, and they haven’t missed a beat. And you heard the people, everything they were doing was making sense. But that tag team match, I really, really enjoyed it for so many levels,” Dreamer said.
He went further in explaining why the specific detail of Christian protecting his injured arm throughout the match crystallized his Hall of Fame argument.
“For the story they told, for the psychology. And even when they won, what’s the first thing? Christian is still holding that arm and it’s the littlest things why he should be in the Hall of Fame. It was such an enjoyable match and had the people the entire time. Tag team 101, and they were doing newer stuff, they were doing older stuff, and it just worked and that crowd loved it,” Dreamer said.
Cage and Copeland reunited as a tag team at AEW Revolution before continuing their partnership on Dynamite. Their program with RPG Vice is building toward what many expect to be a Double or Nothing showdown at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York on May 24.
