Tommy Dreamer: MJF ‘Is Putting An Incredible Workload Upon Himself’

Tommy Dreamer believes MJF is building one of the great AEW runs, and the world champion now has a growing line of challengers to deal with heading into All In.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dreamer broke down the AEW World Championship picture following Dynamite, where MJF retained his title against Mark Briscoe in the opener. With Will Ospreay already holding a title shot from his Owen Cup win and Kenny Omega now in the mix as well, Dreamer sees a loaded field forming around the champion.

“MJF holding court, MJF being the top guy, MJF having all these guys after him, but the main characters in this story are Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay,” Dreamer said.

Dreamer praised MJF for shouldering a heavy load while working through a leg injury.

“He is putting an incredible workload upon himself, having matches the way he does, also with a bum leg, and continues to go out there and impress,” he said. He was equally effusive about Briscoe, expressing hope that the perennial fan favorite eventually gets his moment. “Hopefully one day he can win the AEW world title, because, man, he so deserves it. His matches have been off the charts.”

Looking ahead to All In at Wembley Stadium, Dreamer weighed whether MJF vs. Ospreay or another Kenny Omega vs. Ospreay showdown makes the most sense as the main event. He noted that Ospreay, as the hometown hero, is the biggest possible opponent, but a babyface clash between Omega and Ospreay could also capture a special moment, drawing a comparison to the classic British Bulldog vs. Bret Hart encounter at the same venue. Ultimately, Dreamer’s gut tells him it will be MJF vs. Ospreay at Wembley.

Should MJF run the table against both Omega and Ospreay, Dreamer says the champion’s legacy would be cemented. “If MJF is your champion, he beats Kenny Omega, and he beats Will Ospreay at Wembley, holy crap,” he said, marveling at MJF being on top before turning 30. He suggested Andrade could be next in line for a title shot after this current stretch.
