AEW World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk got a lot of fans talking when he called out Hangman Page during Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. However, Page didn’t appear and Punk said Page not coming out was cowardly instead of doing “cowboy sh**.”
He also stated that the apology should be larger than the “disrespect.” He then turned his focus to doing a promo about Jon Moxley, setting up their championship match next week.
As previously reported, Punk’s comments about Page were a shoot and not planned as Page wasn’t supposed to be part of the opening segment.
Punk’s comments date back a few months as Page did a promo before dropping the World Title to Punk at Double Or Nothing, where Page buried Punk by stating that he needed to protect AEW from Punk. You can watch the promo below:

This led to speculation there was some heat between them because his comments were out of left field as Punk is a babyface. AEW President Tony Khan stated at the time that the segment made sense because they are two wrestlers who don’t like each other and wanted to fight.
Pwinsider.com also has confirmed that Punk did go off script. Because of the dislike for one another, it was Punk’s first opportunity to fire back at Page for what he said. The report noted they haven’t heard of any interaction between Punk and Page at the show last night.
