Kenny Omega has a ton of respect for top NJPW star Kazuchika Okada as they have shared the ring multiple times due to their rivalry in the promotion.
Omega recently stated in an interview that Okada reminds him of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
He also stated that Flair is agreed upon by many people to be the best of all time, and the same goes for Okada as they bring out the best in his opponents.
“A lot of wrestling historians and purists will go to bat and say that [Ric] Flair was the greatest of all time because he was so successful for a period of years. The same goes for [Kazuchika] Okada, who’s almost the modern-day Ric Flair. They have a very patterned main event style, but it’s very successful. They bring out the best in almost every opponent,” Omega told Bleacher Report.
Omega officially signed with AEW last year and the signing was made official at the Double Or Nothing ticket announcement party was held from the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His contract with NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) expired in January 2019 and was set to be a free agent. He also serves as an Executive Vice President.
