Mercedes Mone Indicates She Recently Had Surgery (with PHOTO)

It appears that Mercedes Mone recently underwent surgery after having a significant impact on NJPW since her arrival in January.

She made her promotional debut at Wrestle Kingdom by confronting KAIRI, only later to beat her for the IWGP Women’s Title before dropping it to Mayu Iwatani in late April.

Money was wrestling Willow Nightingale in a match to crown the first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion last month when she suffered an injury in the main event of NJPW Resurgence.

Mone suffered what is believed to be a broken ankle when she went for a code red off the top rope and slipped. Plans had to be changed on the fly, with Nightingale going over to win the title. She did ink a long-term deal with NJPW before the bout.

As seen below in a post on her Instagram Story, she indicated that she’s six days removed from having surgery on her ankle, which is bandaged up.

Mone was expected to be part of AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door later this month, but the injury has nixed those plans.

We wish her a speedy recovery.
