There was a controversial moment during the NWA Samhain pay-per-view that reportedly put the NWA’s TV deal with The CW Network in jeopardy. That spot was when Jim Mitchel was at a table with women around him drinking alcohol, and it looked like Mitchell was snorting cocaine off the table before passing it around to everyone around him.
It was reported that the spot upset people at The CW, and there is now “an active push by those higher-up at The CW” for NWA programming to only air on The CW app rather than on television, which would be a devasting blow to the promotion.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted he had an email exchange with NWA owner Billy Corgan, who disputed the report.
“Yeah. So, the deal with Billy, I heard from him today. And so the basic deal there is, this is about the cocaine spot with Mitchell and everything like that. And as far as, like, all the stuff,” Meltzer stated. “I didn’t speak to him. We just exchanged emails, but we were not. I was asking him questions that had to do with stuff I don’t care about. Basically, he disputes the report about a lot of the CW stuff but cannot get into the details of it because of all that stuff. There’s the actual deal and everything like that there. I don’t know what the time is, but they’re under an agreement. Whatever the station that he’s working with, which we presume is CW, there’s an agreement to not talk about the contract, the release, or anything like that, or if it’s another station. So there are basically no questions that he can answer because then, by doing so, he just disputes the Nick Hausman report. It’s like, whatever time is going to say what it is or it isn’t, he’s going to dispute that. Of course, he’s going to. So that’s kind of where we are. There’s nothing really to report on that other than the story’s out there, and I’m sure there’s truth to a lot of the story. But where it all is and everything is to be determined.”
