Max Caster Announces Extended Break From Wrestling, Says He Is Going To Therapy

Max Caster said Saturday night that he is stepping away from wrestling for an extended period and will go to therapy, six days after TNA cut ties with him over his Bound for Glory entrance rap.

Caster made the announcement in the ring at Awesome Championship Wrestling’s Mischief Night II in Poughkeepsie, New York.

“I don’t know if everybody here is aware of what happened with me this past week,” Caster said. “If you don’t know, in the span of one day, I started a contract and ended a contract with TNA Wrestling, and I put out a statement. I addressed it. I apologized to a lot of people, but the one group I didn’t get to apologize to was all the fans.”

“So guys, I really appreciate the support. Everybody who’s reached out after this happened, a lot of people were excited to watch TNA for the first time. A lot of people were excited to come back to the product, and now a lot of people are disappointed that I’m not on the show. But you know what? Thank you guys here tonight at ACW for welcoming me, and for that I say I love you and thank you.”

“I don’t know what my next move is. I don’t know where I’ll be, but I will be stepping away from the ring for an extended period of time. So I’m gonna go home. I’m gonna go to therapy. I’m gonna get it right so that next time I’m in the ring, it feels like I’m at home, just like you guys made me feel here tonight.”

Caster made his TNA debut against Moose at Bound for Glory on October 11 in Tampa, his first match since his AEW contract expired on October 1. During his entrance, he rapped, “I drop bombs. You don’t even have to fly to Riyadh,” a day after a deadly missile attack on the city’s main airport. TNA said the next day that “making light of violent attacks is wrong” and that Caster “will no longer be wrestling for TNA,” and removed the rap from its social media and replays.

On Tuesday, Caster apologized to TNA president Carlos Silva and the company’s office, saying he “went too far,” but said he could not apologize for anyone being offended by the rap itself.

Caster is a former two-time AEW World Tag Team Champion with Anthony Bowens as The Acclaimed. He did not say how long he plans to be away.
