Mercedes Martinez says the GoFundMe fans donated to after she tore her ACL paid for her surgery in full.
“The GoFundMe paid for the surgery in full. Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is a blessing for me,” Martinez said in a video posted on X on Thursday.
In the post, the former ROH Women’s World Champion wrote that her ACL was fully repaired, a small MCL tear was fixed, and doctors found arthritis in the knee.
In the video, Martinez said she was taking the dressing off, cleaning the incision and starting her first rehab session at home. She said she plans to avoid pain medication unless she needs it.
She said the costs of her recovery are now her main concern. “Now it’s just dealing with the expenses of the recovery,” Martinez said. She has set up an Amazon ACL recovery wish list and said she will keep adding to it.
Martinez tore the ACL in her right knee in a match against Allie Katch on August 15. She had announced that 2026 would be her final year as a full-time wrestler, and after the injury she said her in-ring career was over.
💔 With a heavy heart, the #LastRunTour is over.
Aug 15 @2CWrestling, knee gave out during my match w/ @AllieKATCH.
Torn ACL. Surgery tbd.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out and supported me.
Not goodbye to wrestling. Just goodbye to the in-ring portion.

Martinez’s health benefits ended when her AEW contract expired in January. She launched the GoFundMe on September 7, saying that as a self-pay patient the surgery had to be paid for in full before it could be scheduled. The fundraiser has raised $12,735 of its $25,000 goal from 191 donations as of this writing.
We wish Martinez a full recovery.
