Toby Keith was very close to buying TNA; more news on Global Force Wrestling

The story about Toby Keith attempting to buy TNA late last year was confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter article this week on Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling.

Representatives for Keith had been talking with TNA officials for months and Keith was ready to buy the company if the price was fair even though TNA had denied the sale talks in an internal memo from Janice Carter to TNA employees. At one point Bob Carter flew to Keith’s home in Norman, Oklahoma to finalize the deal but the one stumbling block was Dixie Carter. Bob wanted his daughter to have a position with the company and he wanted her to have an on-air role. That was a deal breaker because the Jarretts and Dixie Carter are not on good terms and didn’t want to run a company with her.

Although the Hollywood Reporter story noted that GFW is still looking for a TV deal, it is believed that there is either a deal with CMT or there are strong talks going on with them.
