UFC’s Cain Velasquez to team up with Cody Rhodes in his pro wrestling debut

Back in April, it was announced that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez is getting into pro wrestling.

Velasquez has signed to appear in popular Mexican promotion AAA. He will debut on Aug. 3 in Mexico City at an event called “TripleMania,” which is the biggest event of the year for the promotion.

On Tuesday, AAA announced that the UFC star is set to team with AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown in six-man tag team match against Texano Jr., Taurus, and a mystery partner.

Also announced is The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega vs. AAA Tag Team Champions The Lucha Bros and The Laredo Kid. Previously announced was Blue Demon vs. Rey Wagner in a Mask vs. Hair match.

This comes after months of expressing his interest in the WWE, the UFC star has decided to step into the squared circle. He visited the WWE Performance Center down in Orlando Florida where he trained with WWE staff this past Summer.
