Backstage News On Matt Riddle’s Surprise TNA Appearance

Former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle made his TNA debut on Friday night at Turning Point when he replaced Trey Miguel, who could not appear due to travel issues.

Riddle teamed with Zach Wentz and KUSHIDA to take on Ace Austin and The Hardys. Ultimately, the babyface goes over after Jeff pins KUSHIDA after hitting the Swanton Bomb.

WWE released Riddle in September 2023 due to several violations of the company’s wellness policy and misconduct allegations. Since then, he has worked for various promotions, including MLW and NJPW.

Fightful reports that TNA learned that Miguel had a travel situation and that he would need to be replaced. Riddle also found out about the situation and ended up working the show. TNA sources stated, “While the situation wasn’t ideal, they weren’t too stressed considering they were at a convention where there were a hundred or so possible replacements.”

Those Fightful spoke with in TNA stated, “They were happy about the live reception to Riddle, but wouldn’t commit to using him again in the future.”
