Backstage News On Road Dogg’s TNA Status

Road Dogg’s potential move to TNA Wrestling isn’t finalized just yet, but the two sides are reportedly still working toward a deal.

According to PWInsider, former WWE writer “Road Dogg” Brian James has not yet signed with TNA, though discussions between the two parties are said to be “still moving forward.” The report also noted that James was not present at last night’s Impact, nor was he on hand for the company’s television tapings in Albany, New York, earlier this week.

A move to TNA would actually mark a homecoming of sorts for James. Long before his current chapter, he competed in the promotion in the mid-2000s under the name B.G. James, where he was a key part of popular factions like 3 Live Kru and The James Gang. That history gives him a familiarity with the company that could make for a smooth transition into a backstage role.

Of course, James is best known to most fans for his in-ring career in WWE. As one half of the New Age Outlaws alongside “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn and a core member of D-Generation X, he became a multi-time tag team champion and one of the most popular acts of the Attitude Era, a run that earned him a WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2019.

Beyond the ring, James has built an extensive resume behind the scenes in WWE, taking on various roles over the years as a producer, writer, and creative team member. That experience is presumably what has TNA interested, as the company continues to reshape its creative direction. His name has been linked to that group in recent weeks, and while nothing is official yet, the reported progress suggests a deal could still come together.
