Nic Nemeth is the new TNA World Champion.
In the main event of Slammiversary on Sunday at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, Nemeth dethroned Mike Santana to capture the TNA World Championship for the second time in his career.
Santana entered the night riding the momentum of his second reign with the title, which he won from Frankie Kazarian on the January 15, 2026 episode of TNA Impact before quickly establishing himself as the face of the company. Nemeth, meanwhile, earned his shot as a Call Your Shot winner, but rather than cashing in by surprise as many before him have, he announced his intentions well in advance, specifically targeting Santana at Slammiversary.
The bout carried a big-fight feel and opened with a measured, cat-and-mouse exchange. Once Nemeth’s evasive tactics ran their course, the two settled in and traded heavy offense, drawing dueling chants from the Boston crowd. The action spilled to the mat, where Santana was busted open in the process.
The pace never let up. Santana connected with his Rolling 450 for a near fall, only for Nemeth to answer with a massive superkick for a close two-count of his own. Nemeth then hit a Danger Zone for another near fall as the two continued to trade momentum.
The finishing stretch saw Santana go for his Spin the Block, but Nemeth cut him off with a superkick that nearly ended it. When Santana was unable to connect with Spin the Block a second time, Nemeth seized the opening, landing another Danger Zone to score the pinfall and claim the championship.
The victory makes Nemeth a two-time TNA World Champion. Santana’s loss is especially notable given the recent speculation surrounding his future, with the now-former champion having been the subject of reports linking him to a potential move to WWE.
