Leon Slater is the new TNA World Champion. Slater beat Nic Nemeth in the main event of Bound for Glory on Sunday night at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, and at 22 years old, he is now the youngest TNA World Champion of all time.
It was a night of new champions across the board. There were five title matches on the show, and all five ended with a new champion.

TNA Hall of Fame Ceremony
Before the main card, TNA inducted Amazing Red, Konnan and ODB into its Hall of Fame. Frankie Kazarian inducted Amazing Red. Cruz Montana accepted the honor on behalf of Konnan, and Al Snow and Traci Brooks inducted ODB. During his speech, Amazing Red announced he was entering the X Division Championship match later that night.
Ricky Sosa def. Eddie Edwards
Sosa won with two Headshots for the pin. It was his first singles match on a TNA pay-per-view. Alisha Edwards got involved and hit Sosa with a DDT on the floor while the referee was distracted, and Sosa hit her with a Blue Thunder Bomb before the finish. Edwards shook Sosa’s hand after the match.
Amazing Red def. Fabian Aichner, BDE, Rich Swann, KC Navarro, Ryan Nemeth and Cedric Alexander to win the vacant TNA X Division Championship
About an hour after going into the Hall of Fame, Amazing Red won the seven-way scramble with the Code Red after a Spanish Fly. The title was vacant because Slater used Option C to cash in the X Division title for his world title shot. Kazarian came out afterward to congratulate Red.
Shayna Baszler and Zoey Serrano def. Kiera Hogan and Allie to win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship
This was Baszler’s TNA debut. Serrano made the call for a partner this past week on iMPACT!, and Baszler answered. Baszler won the match with a chokehold.
Frankie Kazarian won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet
Kazarian won the gauntlet for the third straight year, rolling up Trey Miguel in the final one-on-one. Trey Miguel had to start the match at number one after losing on iMPACT! this past Thursday. Avery Styles came in at number two in his official TNA in-ring debut, and Matthew Rehwoldt entered from the commentary desk. Other entrants included Bear Bronson, Dutch, LJ Cleary, Gabby Forza, AJ Francis, Brian Myers, Mr. Elegance, The Home Town Man and Joe Alonzo.
The win gets Kazarian a TNA title shot of his choosing, anytime over the next year. Kazarian said he is going to use it on the TNA World Tag Team Championship with Avery Styles as his partner.
Jason Hotch def. Mustafa Ali (c), John Skyler and Special Agent 0 to win the TNA International Championship
This four-way was billed as the end of Order 4, with all four former stablemates fighting for Ali’s title. Hotch countered Ali’s pin attempt into a roll-up to win the title back. Earlier in the match, Ali hit a Swanton 450 that put Special Agent 0 and Tasha Steelz through a table. Mila Moore was in Skyler’s corner, and Steelz was in Special Agent 0’s corner.
Indi Hartwell def. Xia Brookside (c) to win the TNA Knockouts World Championship
Mickie James was the special guest referee. Hartwell won with a top-rope elbow drop followed by the Hurts Donut. It is her first title in TNA. On commentary, it was pointed out that Hartwell grew up in Australia as a TNA fan and owned a replica of the Knockouts World Championship as a kid.
Moose def. Max Caster
Caster answered Moose’s open challenge in his TNA debut, and he freestyled before the match. Late in the match, Caster went for a Mic Drop off the top rope, but Moose got his knees up. Moose then hit the Spear for the win.
syX (Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw) def. The Hardys (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy) in a Falls Count Anywhere match
Erick Redbeard showed up in a surprise appearance and powerbombed Jeff Hardy through a table. Sawyer and Shaw then double-teamed Jeff, and Sawyer pinned him. Earlier in the match, Jeff hit a Swanton Bomb off the top of an entrance tunnel through a set of tables. The loss came one night after TNA’s Hardy Party in Tampa.
Later in the show, Santino Marella announced that The Hardys will be in charge of this week’s iMPACT! as TNA celebrates their 35-year anniversary. “They’re going to make the matches. They’re going to make the decisions. Whatever they want, they got it,” Marella said.
Leon Slater def. Nic Nemeth (c) to win the TNA World Championship
Slater won with a second Swanton 450 after a frog splash. Nemeth kicked out of the first Swanton 450 and got his knees up to block another one. Slater kicked out of Nemeth’s Danger Zone and also hit his Big Play dive over the ring post. Nemeth was in his second run as champion after beating Mike Santana for the title at Slammiversary.
Before the match, Slater said in a video package: “I am one win away from doing everything that I’ve trained for since nine years old, and that is to become the youngest TNA world champion of all time.”
He did exactly that.

Analysis:
Putting the title on Leon Slater was the right call. Bound for Glory is the biggest show of the year, and he’s 22. It’s good to push young talent, and Slater is already becoming a major star in this business. I think he’s going to be a big one. I don’t know who’s next for him, but it’s time for a fresh start with somebody new and to move on from Nemeth.
Erick Redbeard showing up wasn’t a big surprise. A lot of people have been expecting more of the former Wyatt guys to show up. I wonder if Nikki Cross is next, or Bo Dallas. Some people will call it a WWE rehash, but let’s see what happens. Maybe it helps the ratings. Maybe it helps attendance.
TNA is building to something bigger with The Hardys and syX. My question is who joins The Hardys, because they’re going to need some help.
Max Caster in TNA could work out. In AEW, he got lost in the shuffle because there were just too many people. This is a fresh start for him, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up in WWE in a year or so.
As for the crowd, they were okay. They weren’t that hot. I don’t know if it’s because there were a lot of comps in the building or what, but it was all right. Ticket sales for Tampa were a talking point heading into the show, and the way it was shot, you couldn’t really tell how full or empty the building was.
