There’s a very interesting name backstage at tonight’s AEW Collision tapings.
As first reported by WrestleVotes, former WWE Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is backstage at the show. There isn’t much more in the way of details on why she’s there but it’s possible that she’s just visiting since she lives in California.
Rousey raised some eyebrows when she wrestled for Lucha Vavoom on October 28 and teamed with AEW’s Marina Shafir to defeat her trainer Brian Kendrick and AEW’s Taya Valkyrie. Last night, she teamed with Shafir at the Wrestling Revolver Unreal show in a match against AEW stars Athena and Billie Starkz. The match ended in no contest, which will likely set up a rematch.
Rousey is a free agent and she indicated on social media a few weeks ago that she was retired. There had been rumors that she might return to MMA for the UFC 300 event next year but that was shot down by Dana White. It’s clear that Rousey still has the itch for pro wrestling and AEW could be in her future.
