Tony Khan takes a different approach to letting go of AEW talent. Unlike in WWE, where the company will release wrestlers, the President of All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor lets the contract expire, leading to their departure.
After being with AEW for the past four years, Leva Bates, also known as Blue Pants from WWE NXT, is no longer with the company where she wrestled before taking on duties behind the scenes. She had an office role, helped with Public Relations, ran the makeup and wardrobe departments, and co-running the interactive ‘Heels’ club.’
Several wrestlers were said to be sad to see the AEW Original leave the promotion.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Bates was surprised by the news because her deal expired without having a chance to talk with AEW about renewing it. Some people in the company found out about her departure when “an email went out notifying that they were not renewing the deal. Bates was said to have found out when people contacted her to check on her.”
The report noted that several in the promotion pushed for her to remain with the company, and some people applauded her statement about leaving due to the circumstances of her departure.
