Fans have compared Wardlow and Goldberg as they have a similar entrance and are booked alike.
With Goldberg now being a free agent and being open to any possibilities, although hes leaning towards doing a four city tour, AEW President Tony Khan has stated that he’s keeping his eye on the legendary wrestler.
Speaking with Simon Miller of WhatCulture Wrestling at WrestleCon, Wardlow was asked whether he heard the rumors that Goldberg said at WrestleCon that Wardlow was next and pointed at him.
“Well, I actually pointed at him and I said, ‘Bet your ass I’m not next.’ Yeah, you guys just missed it. Goldberg did walk through just a minute ago and we exchanged words. Don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but we both mutually agreed that if the opportunity comes, we would love to see who really is next,” Wardlow stated.
When asked whether facing Goldberg is a dream match for him, he said it was.
“Yeah, if you could have Batista, Lesnar, Goldberg, I put those three in the same category of like dream monster matches. Goldberg is…we just heard, ‘Wardlow.’ We haven’t heard that chant since ‘Goldberg.’ I think Wardlow versus Goldberg, it doesn’t get bigger than that. It does not get bigger than Wardlow versus Goldberg” Wardlow stated.
Miller noted that Wardlow could be the one to retire the WWE Hall of Famer, who still wants a proper retirement bout.
“If it comes down to Wardlow is the man to retire Goldberg, I can die peacefully.”
