Trish Stratus filled in for Lita to team with Becky Lynch when they defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan on Monday Night Raw. After the title change, Stratus turned heel and laid out Lynch with the chick kick.
There were plans for Stratus to turn her heel and work a program with Lynch through SummerSlam, dating back to March.
Coming out of this show, some fans have wondered where WWE is going with this feud and whether they will wait until August 5 to do the match.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted WWE is sticking with its original plans of waiting until SummerSlam for the match, despite the event being months away.
Meltzer: “Yeah, they’re going to do a match at SummerSlam, which is interesting that they shot the angle.”
Bryan Alvarez: “That’s a long way off, dude. It’s April.”
Meltzer: “No, that’s why it’s interesting to me that they shot the angle so early, although I expected the angle actually at WrestleMania…..Yeah, that’s been the whole plan since she came back. Stratus came back to set up Stratus and Lynch for a feud.”
