CM Punk suffered a serious injury during AEW All Out main event

Dave Meltzer reported today on Twitter that CM Punk’s injury, which he suffered in his match against Jon Moxley at AEW All Out, is said to be serious.

No matter what happens discipline-wise following the backstage fight, the AEW World Title situation will be addressed tonight due to the injury. Punk is not backstage at Dynamite.

Meltzer wrote, “Punk injury, believed to be from the tope, is serious. Rumors from Sunday but he hadn’t confirmed them but it’s been confirmed to me no matter what happens discipline-wise that the title situation has to be changed and addressed tonight.”

Although not confirmed, the injury is rumored to be a torn pec, similar to Cody Rhodes’ injury that has kept him out of the ring for months.

If Punk is not fired for being involved in the backstage fight, AEW will still have to strip him of the World Title or crown an Interim World Heavyweight Champion depending on the severity of the injury. If he’s going to be out for a long time then they would strip him of the title and crown a new champion.

As previously, at least 7 people were suspended by the company for the backstage fight at All Out, including The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.
