CM Punk’s AEW return is just a matter of a few months away from happening after being away for several months following his comments at the All Out media scrum and later backstage brawl with The Elite.
It was originally reported that CM Punk is returning to the promotion, with the tentative plan for it to happen on the June 21 edition of AEW Dynamite in Chicago.
AEW might have an idea to ease the tension between those who don’t like Punk by putting him on the Saturday show. Thus, separating the roster between the two shows.
However, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the date had been slightly pushed up to go along with the expected premiere of AEW’s new Saturday show, AEW Collison, which is reportedly slated to premiere on June 17 in Chicago.
“As things stand right now, the return of C.M. Punk is scheduled for a 6/17 show at the United Center in Chicago, which being a Saturday night show, is likely the debut of the new weekly show.”
The report added there had been a conflicting story regarding people at Warner Bros. Discovery wanting and not wanting Punk back for the show, as some viewed him as an important factor in finalizing the deal for the program.
