Drew McIntyre addresses ‘frustrating’ botched flash paper spot during WWE SmackDown angle

Drew McIntyre opened up on the botch during his segment on the September 23 edition of WWE SmackDown.

The segment with McIntyre, Karrion Kross, and Scarlett to set up a strap match at the Extreme Rules event on October 8th. There was a moment when Scarlett threw herself between them to prevent McIntyre from attacking her husband. Scarlett sprayed what was supposed to be a fireball in his face.

Scarlett hit Drew with a low blow and Kross put him out with the Kross Jacket submission. It was hard to make out the fireball during the live shot, but the replay made it clear after a commercial break that it was supposed to be a fireball.

While doing an interview with My San Antonio, McIntyre noted that he is experienced enough to know that things don’t always go to plan on live TV.

“It is frustrating when it is something that should be ready to go on a live television show. But at the same time, it is a live television show, and it is not my first day. So, I know things don’t always go like they are supposed to go.

“Hence, why I didn’t fall down and hold my face because I don’t trust anything after 20 years in wrestling. I just reacted until I knew everything is OK, and then someone got the cue, and it was not OK. So, I called what I had to call, and we got the save at the end and got the bad guy reaction and putting some heat on the new characters on the show.”
