A former AEW Champion will be headed to the WWE Performance Center this week.
The news broke a few days ago via Fightful that former TBS Champion Jade Cargill was on her way out of AEW and her match with current champion with Kris Statlander that was taped on Wednesday was likely Cargill’s last one with the company.
The match aired this Friday night on Rampage and after losing to Statlander, Cargill was clearly emotional as both women hugged each other in the ring. Word spread quickly after the match was taped that Cargill was leaving. This news came after she was on Chris Jericho’s podcast and said that she respects Tony Khan because he has treated her well instead of just being a number and that there is nowhere else she would rather be than AEW.
However, per Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Cargill was said to be asking for a lot of money to stay with AEW and it appears that they were not willing to meet her asking price. PWInsider reported today that Cargill will be going to the Performance Center in Orlando this week and her AEW contract has expired.
It’s unclear exactly when she will be appearing on WWE TV but the belief is that she will be going straight to the main roster and not going through he NXT system. Cargill tried out for WWE years ago before signing with AEW. During her run in AEW, she became the first TBS Champion and remained undefeated until losing the title to Statlander at Double or Nothing.
