A former WWE star just dropped a tease on Twitter (scroll down to see the tweet) and it seems to indicate that he’s returning to the company or he’s hoping to get a call to return.
Lio Rush’s time in WWE did not end as he had hoped and there were several reported issues that led to his departure but it looks like he is open to returning to the company. Rush posted a photo on Twitter from his days on the Raw roster when he was in a managerial role with current United States Champion Bobby Lashley.
In June, Rush told Wrestling Inc. that he is open to returning to WWE. He said, “I think situations change, I think values and stocks rise. I think people like money; I think people like to make money and that’s what it ultimately comes down to when it comes to business. So no, I don’t rule anything out.”
Rush was under a WWE contract from 2017 until 2020. He first worked in NXT and 205 Live and he was most prominently featured during his days with Lashley.
Rush was released by the company in April 2020 as part of company budget cuts during the height of the pandemic but there were said to be issues from both sides that many feel played a role in his release.
Rush debuted at AEW Double Or Nothing 2021 in the Casino Battle Royale but he then retired from wrestling. He later un-retired and then signed with the company a few months later and was featured on TV until his contract expired earlier this year.
The tweet below indicates that the 27-year-old is definitely not done with pro wrestling and if he gets his way, perhaps he will be back on WWE Raw soon. Now with Triple H running creative, it’s a clean slate in WWE and the door is wide open for ex-talent to return so it’s possible that we’ll see Rush back in WWE in the near future.
