James Gunn’s “Peacemaker” Season Two Featuring John Cena Begins Filming

John Cena’s role as Peacemaker won over the fans when they watched “The Suicide Squad” movie in 2021, leading to his own “Peacemaker” spinoff series on the MAX streaming service.

It premiered in 2022 and was quickly renewed for a second season. It was written and directed by James Gunn. Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, and Chukwudi Iwuji also star in the series.

The character is a superhero who loves peace so much that he is willing to kill anyone, including innocents, for it. At the time, the season finale broke MAX’s record for the biggest single-day release for an HBO Max Original series ever.

Originally, Peacemaker was going to be filmed after the upcoming Superman project was complete. That has changed as both are being filmed at the same time.

Gunn mentioned on Threads that filming for the second season has started. The former WWE Champion was last seen working a quick six-man tag team match on last week’s WWE Raw where he helped The Miz and R-Truth win.
