Nick Aldis has opened up on his wrestling career while working for WWE on a trial basis as the former NWA/TNA star has been shadowing to become a producer for the company.
Although Aldis is working behind the scenes for the company, the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion made recently known that he’s not done in the ring.
While appearing on Niko Knows Best, he said he feels like he is in his prime at 36 years old. Here are the highlights:
Whether he can confirm or deny whether he’s officially with WWE:
“I can’t really confirm or deny that. It’s not. It’s not nothing official. Nothing official.”
Whether he feels like he has more left in the tank:
“Well, let’s stop. I haven’t done everything. That’s kind of you to say, but that’s not accurate. Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know why….the sort of blessing and curse of the wrestling media and the sort of fervent appetite that fans have for information and wanting to be the first to break stuff all the time. But it makes it very difficult to even have conversations or even sort of try something without people putting some sort of finality on it and immediately going, ‘Oh, that’s it. Like he’s doing this, he’s doing that,’ nothing like that is in place, and I don’t know why. But again, I guess because of the discussions about a different role. Immediately, it jumps the conversation to, ‘Oh, he’s not wrestling anymore, he’s retiring. That’s it. He’s done wrestling?’ And I’m going like, ‘Well, hold on. I’m 36 years old. Another blessing and curse in my career is that I got started on a national, international stage very early in my career, a couple of years when I was signed at 21. So I think sometimes I get sort of put in the generation ahead of me in terms of age. And it’s like I’m 36. I’m very much in my prime. Where’s all this discussion about, like, you know, being done wrestling comes from? Everyone needs to chill. So that’s great.”
