Tamyra Mensah-Stock, who made history at the Tokyo Olympics, has made her in-ring debut with WWE.
Last May, she ended her amateur wrestling career for an attempt to become a pro wrestler. She became the Olympic champion at 68 kilograms at the Tokyo Games in 2021, which earned her the right to be honored as the first Black woman to win gold in freestyle wrestling. Since winning the gold, she had expressed joining the company.
She won the 2022 world championship in Belgrade, Serbia, for her second world title. In the announcement article for ESPN about her signing, she noted she wanted to make it to the main roster within a year.
On Saturday night, she competed in her first match at an NXT house show in Melbourne, Florida, defeating Breanna Covington. It’s unclear when she will make her NXT TV debut.
