Matt Riddle is preparing for his life and career outside of the WWE bubble following his release.
The end of his WWE tenure
His departure happened due to the mass talent releases that hit the company hard across NXT and the main roster a few months ago. Things went downhill for Riddle following Randy Orton being sidelined with a serious back injury that resulted in them dropping the Raw Tag Team Titles last May and nixing plans for a feud against each other before Riddle went to rehab last summer due to substance issues that resulted in failed drug tests.
Riddle had been paired with Drew McIntyre before his release. Riddle’s people are reportedly in talks with several companies, but he can’t sign with anyone until his non-compete ends in December.
Post-WWE life
Riddle’s first post-WWE match will be against RVD at Big Time Wrestling The Reunion 3 event on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Chillicothe, Ohio. He also has his first post-WWE appearance booked.
