Drew McIntyre has still not signed a new deal with WWE, something that has been playing out for most of 2023. He recently turned heel and will be teaming with The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio) & JD McDonagh against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes in the Men’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series in Chicago.
Where things stand
McIntyre’s deal expires right after Wrestlemania 40 in April 2024. Pwinsider reports the two sides haven’t entered into deep discussions about a new deal, with WWE’s stance being there is a lot of time to still negotiate.
The report stated, “McIntyre has told those close to him that he is more than willing to let his current deal lapse if necessary and take a break for his family as they recently suffered the loss of his wife’s sister.”
Another option
While many fans believe AEW or NJPW could be landing spots for him should he leave WWE, Pwinsider reports they were told McIntyre has long stated to those he’s friends with that he’d like the chance to spend some extended time back in Scotland.
Finally, McIntyre is reportedly “more than willing to let family come first over a new contract if there has to be a choice of one or the other.” However, with months to go on the deal, there is plenty of time left for the two sides, which have no signs of any negative issues between them, to work things out.
