Samoa Joe has reached a notable milestone in his reign as the AEW World Heavyweight Champion ahead of his next title defense.
Joe became the World Champion by beating MJF last December at the Worlds End pay-per-view event in Uniondale, NY, snapping MJF’s reign as champion at 406 days. Since then, Joe has defended the title against the likes of Hook on the January 17th Dynamite, Adam Page & Swerve Strickland in a three-way at Revolution in March, and then against Wardlow on the March 13th Dynamite.
Joe will defend the title against Strickland at the Dynasty pay-per-view event on Sunday from the Chaifetz Arena in St Louis, MO. Based on betting odds, it’s expected that Strickland will win the title from Joe.
Joe reached the milestone of holding the title for over 100 days. He’s held it for 110 days. MJF holds the record for the longest reign as World Champion.
Since launching AEW in 2019, there have been 10 World Champions in company history. Joe is currently the sixth-longest reigning World Champion behind Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, and MJF.
