The Rock’s future in WWE has been a talking point among fans following WrestleMania XL weekend.
Rock teaming with Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins was the WWE WrestleMania 40 headliner of night one, where the heels went over only for the next night to have Rhodes win the Undisputed WWE Universal Title from Reigns.
On Monday’s Raw, WWE teased Rock vs. Rhodes at a later date, something that’s been speculated to be planned for WrestleMania 41 next year. That event still doesn’t have a date or location confirmed.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported, “From what we’re told, this is very much a long-term thing. There is no planned date for Rock to return for a match, but it’s been talked about next year’s Mania.”
As it stands right now, Rock would prefer to work with Rhodes in the headliner of WrestleMania 41 since that is the bigger match than him against Reigns for now. While Rock usually gets what he wants, it’s not a lock, just something he would prefer.
Rock will be away from WWE at least through early August, ruling out a Summerslam appearance or match due to his Hollywood commitments.
Meltzer added, “While nothing is official, Rock vs. Reigns would figure to be Mania 2026, but anything that far out would be subject to a million different unforeseen things that could change it.”
