There was a time when AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF played up the fact that his AEW contract was going to expire in early 2024 and he could jump ship from AEW to WWE depending on which company brought him the bigger bag of money.
In recent months, especially since turning babyface, MJF has cut back on talk of his contract status.
The report
Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling reported today that he heard from several WWE sources who believe MJF has quietly re-signed with AEW, with one higher-up WWE source stating that there have been “zero talks” between the two sides.
The source also thinks that the idea of MJF entering “free agency imminently is a “false narrative” and that they believe he has re-signed into 2027.” One source said it was all in MJF’s head storyline-wise.
“1000%,” another WWE source stated. “I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.”
MJF retained the World Heavyweight Title over Jay White at Full Gear this past Saturday night.
