Thunder Rosa says she apologized to AEW locker room

Thunder Rosa has opened up on how things were handled during the last months of her reign as the AEW Women’s Champion while injured, which was heavily criticized by fans and wrestlers.

Her title reign was even a focal point of AEW All Access episodes, as Britt Baker was critical of Rosa and how she was able to travel around for personal appearances but not go to AEW events.

Baker isn’t the only one who has questioned whether Rosa was actually dealing with a back injury, as Toni Storm did just that last September. It should be noted that the decision not to vacate the belt immediately was made by Tony Khan.

While appearing on Busted Open Radio, Rosa said she is still dealing with the pain in her back. She reminded fans that she wanted to drop the title the day they told her she couldn’t wrestle, but that wasn’t her call. She said she wanted to make it fair for everyone else in the locker room with the title.

Rosa has been back on the road with AEW since February, working with the Spanish broadcast team. She revealed she apologized to the locker room since returning to the road.

“We got to respect the people that are now representing the company. I’m representing the company in a different manner. I have talked to the locker room and I took accountability for things that some people had issues with and I went out there and apologized. And that’s the best thing that I can do because I want to make money, I want to make sure that I am able to work with everyone regardless of if we have any issues or not.”

Rosa also noted that she hadn’t been medically cleared to compete and that she had recently experienced a setback in her recovery. However, she is determined to make a return to the ring.

We wish Rosa a speedy recovery.
