Tony Khan Explains Why CM Punk/Jack Perry Footage Will Air On AEW Dynamite

AEW President Tony Khan has addressed his decision to have The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) present backstage footage from AEW All In and will discuss it for the first time on this week’s Dynamite episode.

The incident involved CM Punk and Jack Perry at AEW All In last August. The incident resulted in Perry’s suspension and Punk’s release. The decision to have the footage air was made after Punk went into detail about the incident this week while appearing on The MMA Hour.

The incident with Punk occurred after Punk advised Perry against using real glass for a segment on TV. At All In, during his match, Perry made a spot on the windshield of a car and made a reference to glass to the camera, saying, “Real glass, cry me a river,” leading to the physical altercation.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Khan spoke about the decision to air it.

“AEW has a great track record on delivering what we advertise, and it is real footage,” said Khan, who remained guarded over the specific content that will air from All In. “The Young Bucks will show backstage footage from All In, the most important event in AEW history–the world record-holder for the most tickets ever sold for any wrestling record, over 81,035 total–and it was an important night backstage, as well.”

Khan continued, “The decision is based on putting on the best show for AEW, as well as driving interest for Dynamite and our Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21. This is real-life footage that affected many people, and it will air for the first time on TBS during Dynamite.”

Khan brought up how the Bucks are slated to wrestle FTR for the vacant Tag Team Titles at Dynasty and said, “There is a good reason why the Young Bucks are showing this video.” He said that it’s important that the Young Bucks explain the reason why this is relevant going into the match.
