AEW co-owner Tony Khan announced on Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Radio show that AEW will gross $100 million this year.
“This is the first time there have been two wrestling companies that have the ability to be the number one show that night on cable and two wrestling companies that are grossing the kind of money,” Khan said. “I’m not grossing a billion dollars, but I’m going to gross over $100 million this year. That’s pretty unprecedented and it’s been over 20 years since anybody is doing that. To me, success is sustaining it.”
Those comments come on the heels of his announcement that the company has surpassed $1 million in ticket sales for tonights All Out pay-per-view.
Khan said during the interview that while he is conservative with spending, the smartest way to spend his money is on talent and that when the company launched he had “eight figures” in commitments across the roster.
Khan also said that next year he plans on more west coast shows and they are still working on getting to the United Kingdom. Khan also said that he is working on getting All Elite Women a platform but, just like with ROH, he doesn’t know yet where it will air.
Khan also indicated that he has a good relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery and the folks at HBO are not always easy to please but they seemed happy with the “House of the Dragon” cross promotion on AEW Dynamite. He also talked about AEW Rampage and how the show will get stronger now that they have some top stars back from injuries.
