Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch have been feuding for the past several months, coming out of WWE WrestleMania 39.
Their first match occurred at the WWE Night of Champions premium live event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It ended when Zoey Stark came from under the ring to attack Lynch, leading to Trish winning. They had a match on an episode of Raw earlier this month, but it ended when Stark rushed the ring to attack Lynch, causing the DQ. They were later booked in another Raw match that ended in a double countout.
Prior to SummerSlam earlier this month, it was reported that WWE didn’t book the big blowoff match on the card because they would have been “severely limited” by time if it happened.
Thus, WWE saved it for this Saturday’s Payback PLE, where they will meet inside of a steel cage.
While speaking to The New York Post ahead of her match, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about the match not taking place at SummerSlam.
“At the end of the day, as long as we deliver, as long as we leave the fans entertained, satisfied, Stratus-fied that’s what my goal is to come here and do the things we never got to do, show them something they’ve never [seen] before.”
