2K working on new WWE video game ahead of tonight’s Royal Rumble

WWE 2K20 was not what fans had hoped for when the game came out as there were a lot of glitches to it and many felt that the game was rushed.

Instead of coming out with WWE 2K21 the following year, 2K decided to go in a different direction. WWE BattleGrounds came out last fall, but WWE 2K22 is being developed now with the expectation that it will be released later this year.

PWinsider.com reports representatives from 2K are backstage at tonight’s Royal Rumble. Per the report, WWE talent will record voiceovers, as well have scans taken for the next edition of the video game series.

Some notable modes for WWE Battlegrounds include King of the Battleground – an online, last-man-standing mode – and Battleground Challenge, where players take their customized creations from the Superstar Creator and compete in a series of challenges to unlock skill points, build up their abilities and earn cosmetic items.
