AEW Backstage Reaction To WWE Booking Live Event On The Same Night And Minutes Away From Worlds End PPV

WWE has faced AEW in the past and is slated to do so again later this year.

Months ago, AEW announced its World End pay-per-view event would be held on December 28 at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. Last week, WWE announced that they would run a house show from the Kia Center in Orlando, FL, on this same night.

The venue is just minutes away from where AEW is running. It should be noted that while WWE going up against AEW won’t hurt PPV buys, it could impact AEW’s attendance for Worlds End.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported in a Q&A how people in AEW are reacting to the in-town competition.

Sapp said, “Based on the reactions that I’ve got, just a ‘Well of course they are’ type of thing. Yes, it will affect ticket sales. WWE is a very, very hot ticket right now, and it’s their holiday tour, so that will do good. This is obviously intentional and a concentrated effort, and it’s a part of competition. It’s just the nature of competition and the way things work.”
